Had some holidays to take in 1999, so decided to do my Direct Access test. After several broken brake/clutch levers and thankfully no broken bones I took ownership of my first bike - an SV650. Moved onto the flying sofa - my ZZR600 which I took to Germany and on which I learned to ride the switchbacks and passes of the Mosel valley. After a short spell with a Suzuki V-Strom I traded up to a BMW R1200RT - a luxury tourer which was perfect when I was 18.5 stone, but which felt like a tanker on once I lost 7 stone. I now ride a Honda CBR600F, which is my comfiest bike - apart, of course, from my Burgman 400 - my luxury urban commuter which was much admired at the 2009 weekend at Southerness! Also rebuilding a Scorpa trials bike with a view to hurling it off precipices in the local quarries.
We meet in Midlothian the third Tuesday of every month, and are always in search of good chippies and cake shops. Come along if you know of any and you will be welcomed with open arms.

The Manx Curvy Riders were formed in April 2007, with Emma Morter as Regional Rep for the Isle of Man. From small beginnings, we have grown to a group of 18 active members, not bad for a little place like the Isle of Man. Our members vary in age and biking experience, from Learners to ladies who have ridden for twenty years or more and we have all sorts of bikes, including sportsbikes, street bikes and Harleys. We have fortnightly ride outs all year round and meet every month for a social pub night and to discuss club business. In the summer we have evening bike and eats, where we go for a short ride and then a meal. Hope to see you soon! |

I live in Dumfries and have always been interested in bikes from a young age, having gone to the TT with my family many times as well as the grass-tracking and scrambling meetings locally in Dumfries & Galloway.
My brother always had a bike and I always wanted to have one of my own but never had the courage or finance to do it. Then marriage, family and house kind of took over everything which meant there was no opportunity for me to achieve my dream of having my own bike.
Around four years ago, we were on holiday with some biker friends and my husband decided he was going to take his bike test after having been off bikes for around 30 years! I decided at that time that I didn't want to be pillion on someone else's bike and decided to do my test too. I passed first time, although I went down the restricted route and I've never looked back since (well not literally!) I ride a Yamaha 600 which isn't the fastest or most stylish machine on two wheels, but it's mine and it's comfortable!
Come along to our Social evenings on the last Wednesday of every month at the King's Arms Hotel, High Street, Lockerbie where you can meet the rest of the crowd. We have some great roads to play on around this area so please come along and join in the fun.

Rode on L Plates 20 odd years ago, but decided a few years back to fulfil my dream to ride bigger machines. I now ride nearly every day, and I still regularly return to the 125s with which I started. I have even began to use the bikes for camping, which allows me to combine two of my favourite past times. We have quite a few riders in our area, and we try to meet monthly for socials and ride-outs. Sometimes we include families or friends, sometimes we meet up with the lasses from other regions, but we always try to find cake! Get in touch and come along to a meet. You might just enjoy yourself. |

South West Wales CRMCC Rep

Hi, I’m Angela (aka Cookie Monster) from Ammanford, your South West Wales Rep.
I had my first (disastrous) attempt at CBT back in 2001, but just couldn’t do corners, my instructor had no interest and halfway through the day told me to go home as he couldn’t help me.
Six years later as a pillion on an organised tour of the Alps I was inspired to try again by a couple of women riders. Shortly after our return I booked my second CBT with a fantastic instructor and bought my first bike a YBR 125 in Sept 2007. I rode the 125 for a year, passing my test in August 2008. My current ride is a BMW F650GS.
As a new Rep I’m going to be relying on all you ladies to let me know what you’d like from your club. As well as rideouts and socials (with the odd cake or glass of wine), what else would you like to see organised, any ideas, just let me know. |

The Rep covering God's own county of Yorkshire, a mighty fine region it is too, is Kerry Jefferson. Riding on a 50cc scoot since 2000, I finally took the plunge and learned to ride a big girl's bike in 2008... and then promptly fell off! Some nasty bruises and a couple of popped ribs later and I came back better than ever as the photo proves.
My aim for Curvy Riders in Yorkshire is to provide a central point where us girls can get together, whitter on about how little the blokes really know and how much they think they know, and share our knowledge of cakes and chocolate! Curvy Riders has, since before I passed my test, provided me with knowledge, support, ideas and a whole host of friends. |

I'm Linda, and soon to be 40. Based in sunny Manchester.
Passed my test May last year, and been riding an SV650 ever since.
Don't get out as often as I'd like, but we all say that! I regularly meet up with Curvies from Staffordshire and Sheffield, the main stamping ground being the Peak District, as that's local to everybody. Looking forward to recruiting more members in the Manchester area, with aims to meet once a month for social and planning. |

I've been biking since 2003 and it took me a while to get through my test (due to my nerves).
Learning to ride has been such a huge challenge for me that I really feel that I have achieved something life changing and would like to encourage other women to do the same.
The biggest benefit to biking is the social side - everyone seems to enjoy spending time with each other and I'd love to make some real friends.
I volunteered to be the Glasgow Area rep as I wanted to encourage local female bikers to meet up, have fun, share ideas etc.
So make my volunteering worthwhile, let's get a good Glasgow Area group together.

Jan Calland
Thames Valley Rep
Email: ThamesValleyCurvies@hotmail.com
Hello there, my Names Jan aka (Lavender) and back in Febuary 2008 I was sitting at home on a miserable, cold wet half term thinking there must be something I can do to add a bit of excitement and spice to my life, but short of getting rid of hubby and kidnapping Hugh Jackman,I decided on a whim to take my CBT. I say it was on a whim but I'm pretty sure there is a god of Motorbiking out there who came to me in a vision and whispered that if I took the test my bike would come!
I got round to passing my bike test in November of that year on my third attempt! Since then its become a bit of an obsession and if your unlucky enough to start talking to me about bikes, you may never get away! Its turned out to be an expensive whim and I have a cupboard full of kit to prove it!!
Riding has given me such a sense of purpose and enjoyment that I hope to pass on my enthusiasim to other ladies in my area. I'm in the process of finding venues i.e. a nice pub and tea shop for us all to meet up at. I will update the details as and when I find somewhere.
I'm really looking forward to forging new friendships, getting people together and making the most out of this wonderful opportunity. I'm here to offer my support and get more of us out on the roads, so come on in, get in touch and lets make ThamesValleyCurvies the place to be.
You can reach me at the details above and I look forward to you getting in touch. |

Emma Van Leer
South West England Rep
Email: southwestcurvies@btinternet.com
I have always liked motorbikes, and had toyed with idea that I wanted one for a long time. When I met my Husband 7 years ago, I discovered he had always wanted a bike,so we both went for it, I learned 1st, and stayed on a 125 for 2 years, then took a restricted test and rode my GS500 restricted, that came off May 07, which means Ive been riding all in now for nearly 5 years.
I have no sense of direction, and can get lost in a car park so I'm always looking for someone else to lead any rideouts!
Southern Curvies are still a rare breed, and we are so far spaced out, it can be difficult to get us together, but we do try as often as we can, we are a friendly bunch and are always looking for new members. |

Wendy Weaver
West Midlands & Shropshire CRMCC Rep
E-mail: wmids-shropscurvies@hotmail.com
Hi I’m Wendy, otherwise known as Ariah. I took my CBT in August 2009 and as yet have not taken my full test, although I am planning to. I am currently riding a Yamaha xv125 Virago, my Baby V as I call her, and loving every minute I am out on the bike (after the initial nerves settle down that is).
As this will be a new area for a Curvy Rep, I am hoping that I can get more ladies involved by putting up posters and maybe getting some business cards done so that I can hand them out when I go to local bike meets. I would also like to arrange a few socials and some ride outs for Curvies and occasional ones to include partners.
I am looking forward to meeting all the ladies in the area who enjoy riding and having a laugh. So come on ladies get in touch and let me know where you all are. |

I started riding in California when I was 19, no helmet law applied back then... hey at least I had jeans on. I rode for 1½ years before moving to England.
Twenty something years later, still here in England...... I bought a Yamaha SR125, then did my CBT, then sticking to form, I bought a Suzuki M800 and then did my full licence. Well you have to have something to motivate you, so buy the bike first then pass the tests; it worked for me anyway :O).
Some 2+ years later and I am the proud rider of.... either a CBF1000 or a Harley VRSCD Nightrod. As you can see, I’ve got the bug and got it bad.
Southeast of England Curvy Riders
We meet once a month on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at the ACE Cafe for a social. We also have a scheduled rides out once a month and mini tours during the year contact for dates and starting points.
It doesn’t matter what you ride as long as it has no more than 3 wheels and is driven by an engine. So.... if you’re female, ride a motorcycle or trike, live in or around London, drop me a line details are below |
