1 Aims and Objectives



  1. The Club shall provide a social focus for female motorcyclists in the UK, IoM, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to meet and promote, encourage, organise and participate in any events related to motorcycling.

  2. The Club shall provide, support and maintain an internet based Forum using the web site www.CurvyRiders.co.uk for the passage of information between Members, and for discussion, social support and interaction between Members and their guests.

  3. The ethos of the Club shall be that it is “by women, for women”, and as such, membership shall be limited to females.

  4. The Club shall support charitable fundraising.





2. Organisation



  1. The Club activities shall be administered and organised or guided by a Committee comprising no less than five Members who shall be full Club Members with a minimum of 12 months membership.

  2. The Committee shall include and consist of the following posts:

    - Chairperson*
    - Club Secretary*
    - Club Treasurer*
    - Membership Secretary*
    - Events Officer*
    - Webmistress
    - Merchandising Officer
    - Newsletter Editor
    - Forum Administrator

  3. Those Committee posts marked with an ‘*’ shall be filled at all times.

  4. The Committee shall be supported in this task by Regional Representatives, who shall be nominated full Club Members responsible for providing representation to Members at a regional level.

  5. More than one person may hold a post, and one person may hold more than one post.

  6. The Committee shall have the power to co-opt Club Members to fill any Committee vacancies which may arise during the year at Club meetings.

  7. The Quorum for a Committee Meeting shall be 5 voting Members.

  8. All Committee Members and Regional Representatives shall adhere to the overall ethos and objectives of the Club.





3. COMMITTEE



  1. The Committee shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Club.

  2. All Committee positions shall be for a period of one year, however, a Committee Member may present herself for re-election.

  3. All Members wishing to be considered for a position on the Committee shall be full Club Members with a minimum of 12 months paid membership.

  4. The election to determine Committee Members shall be chaired by the current Club Chairperson.





4. MEMBERSHIP



  1. The minimum age for membership of the club shall be 17 years.

  2. Membership of the Club shall be exclusively restricted to women.

  3. Full Membership of the Club shall be offered to individuals upon application and payment of an annual set Membership Fee. Full Members shall have access to all benefits and activities of the Club.

  4. Associate Members shall not be subject to a Membership Fee, but shall be temporarily offered the benefit of attending specified Club activities whilst giving them the opportunity to consider taking up Full Membership.

  5. Guest Members shall not be subject to a Membership Fee, but shall have access to the use of the online Forum only.

  6. Founder Membership of the Club shall be offered to the two founding Members of the Club in recognition of their services. Founder Members shall have access to all benefits and activities of the Club, but they shall not be subject to a Membership Fee and shall therefore not be eligible to stand for election to the Committee.

  7. New applications for Full Membership shall be considered on receipt of a signed application form OR online application via www.curvyriders.co.uk accompanied by the appropriate annual subscription.

  8. Anyone regularly attending meetings should be encouraged to become full Members if not having done so within 2 months of first attending.

  9. No discrimination shall be made between riders and pillions or size and make of machine. With the legitimate exception of Membership of the Club being exclusive to female persons, the Club shall ensure that all Members are treated fairly and equally. The Club shall not permit nor promote discrimination against any person on the basis of race, creed, colour, ethnic or other origin, marital status, sexual orientation, age, disability or religious or political affiliation, nor on any other basis prohibited by law, except where this is necessary to ensure the health and safety of members.

  10. If a Club Member has any concerns regarding a potential new Member, these concerns should be bought to the Committee’s attention at an early opportunity.

  11. The current List of Members shall be maintained by the Membership Secretary. Any Member changing addresses should notify the Membership Secretary within 14 days of any new details. The Membership Secretary shall advise the Committee of any such changes as and when necessary.

  12. The Committee shall reserve the right to refuse membership for any reason, without explanation.





5. MEETINGS



  1. On an annual basis, the Committee shall organise an Annual General Meeting, to be held at a time and a place convenient to Full Members, and if possible to coincide with the National Club Trip.

  2. An Extraordinary General Meeting may be called by a Quorum of 50% of the Committee at any time and for any reason. Any specific request by at least 5 Full Members of the Club should be considered grounds for calling an EGM if appropriate.

  3. The date of the AGM or any EGM shall be notified to the Club Members in advance so that the maximum number of Members are given the opportunity to attend. Where possible, a central location which enables maximum attendance should be arranged.

  4. The outgoing Chairperson’s Report and the Treasurer’s Statement of Accounts compiled as at the first day of the calendar month in which the Meeting is held shall be presented to the Club at the AGM.

  5. Any Club Member wishing to include any matters on the AGM Agenda shall notify the Club Secretary in writing not less than 1 month prior to the meeting.

  6. Members shall give order to the Chairperson during Meetings.

6. FINANCE



  1. The club’s financial year shall run from 1st January to 31st December each year.

  2. The Treasurer shall have available to Club Members at the AGM, a signed Statement of Accounts as at the first day of the calendar month in which the Meeting is held.

  3. The funds of the Club shall be vested in the Treasurer. Cheques drawn on the Bank Account of the Club shall always require two Signatories.

  4. Any financial expenditure on behalf of the club shall be authorised by the Committee.

  5. The Club shall be a non-profit making body.

  6. No surplus of income over expenditure shall at any time be distributed to Members. Upon the winding up of the Club, after satisfaction of all its debts and liabilities, any capital whatsoever remaining shall be given by charitable donation to a charity or charities determined by the Members.

  7. The property of the Club shall be vested in the Chairperson and remains property of the Club at all times.

  8. The Club shall not be wound up other than by a resolution passed by at least 50% of Full Members at either an AGM, at an Extra-ordinary General Meeting, or by an on-line vote. The Club shall not be wound up without prior discussions with Regional Representatives, allowing sufficient time for an expression of opinion by interested parties.

  9. In the event of the demise of the Club, the remaining membership (minimum of 5 Members) shall undertake to fulfill the conditions relating to the satisfaction of all liabilities and the disbursement of any remaining capital to a charity or charities determined by those Members by Charitable Donation.

  10. The Club shall reserve the rights to any copyright material, designs or intellectual property that may have been designed, created or published, relating to the Club, and these shall not be used by any person within the Club unless consent is obtained from the Committee.





7. SUBSCRIPTIONS



  1. Membership shall run for a period twelve months from the approval of application for membership and payment of the appropriate membership fee.

  2. Club Members wishing to renew their membership shall be required to do so during the months of January and February.

  3. Membership renewal subscriptions shall be paid in full by existing Club Members by 1st March yearly.

  4. Only fully paid up Members shall be entitled to all benefits of Club membership.

  5. No refund of subscriptions shall be made to any Member resigning or dismissed from the Club.





8. Fees



  1. Membership subscription fees shall be reviewed at the AGM each year.





9. INTERNET FORUM



  1. The Club shall provide, support and maintain a ‘free to user’ internet based Forum using the web site www.CurvyRiders.co.uk for the passage of information between Members, and for discussion, social support and interaction between Members and their Guest Members.

  2. The responsibility for upgrading and ensuring that the Club Website is updated shall be delegated by the Committee to the Webmistress.

  3. The responsibility for the day to day running of the Club Forum, including but not limited to the acceptance of applications from prospective Guest Members, shall be delegated by the Committee to the Forum Administrator.

  4. Rules relating to the conduct of all Forum users are displayed on the Forum itself, and are beyond the scope of the Clubs Constitution and Rules.

  5. The responsibility for the management of all Forum related breaches of rules or grievances shall be delegated by the Committee to the Forum Administrator and her Moderator(s).

  6. All costs relating to the running of the Club Web site and Club Forum shall be met from Club funds.

  7. Members of the Committee and Regional Representatives shall make themselves available to support the Forum Administrator and her Moderator(s) if requested.





10. SAFETY AND DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURE



  1. It is the responsibility of each Member to behave in a sensible manner and to ensure and promote both the Health and Safety of other Members and the public and to support and uphold the ethos and good reputation of the Club.

  2. Irresponsible riding of motorcycles will not be tolerated. Safe riding is expected at all times when engaged in the activities of the Club.

  3. Members and their motorcycles are expected to comply with all legal requirements when engaged in the activities of the Club.

  4. Members are encouraged to introduce prospective members and guests to Club activities, but the Member shall be responsible for the guest’s behaviour.

  5. The Committee shall have the power after due enquiry, to suspend or expel from membership of the Club any Member whose conduct brings the name of the Club into disrepute or any Member who is found to be acting against the aims and objectives of the Club.

  6. Any Member who is the subject of such intended suspension or expulsion shall be offered a hearing before a meeting of the full Committee and will have the opportunity to nominate up to 2 other Club Members to also attend and speak on that Member’s behalf. The minimum presence of Committee Members shall be the Quorum (5).





11. GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE



  1. Any Member sensing a Grievance against the Committee, or any other Member that arises out of the activities of the Club should be encouraged to express that Grievance either formally to the Committee in general or to a Committee Member or Regional Representative in private confidence.

  2. Where a Grievance had been formally addressed to the Committee in writing, the Committee shall act to resolve the Grievance as quickly and in as positive a manner as possible. The Committee shall respond to the formal complaint, in writing, within one month. Where appropriate, this response will be made public to all Full Members. Committee Members and Regional Representatives are encouraged to make all efforts to resolve any privately aired Grievances and to ensure that Members enjoy the benefits of the Club freely.





12. AFFILLIATION



  1. In support of the aims and objectives of the Club, the Club shall be affiliated to the BMF, which will be reviewed at each AGM. All costs incurred shall be paid from Club funds.





13. INSURANCE



  1. The Committee shall undertake to insure the Club against Public Liability and other necessary risks at all times. All costs incurred shall be paid from Club funds.





14. HEALTH AND SAFETY



  1. It is the responsibility of every Club Member to take all appropriate steps to ensure the Health and Safety of themselves, other Club Members, and members of the public at all times when engaged in the activities of the Club.





15. INTERPRETATION



  1. Application for membership implies acceptance of these rules and Members shall hold themselves honour bound to abide by these rules and to accept the recommendation of the Committee in any cases of dispute or disagreement.





16. GENERAL



  1. Upon application, all new Members shall receive a copy of this Constitution and Rules and an up to date list of Committee Members. Further copies of the Constitution and Rules, and list of Committee Members shall be provided by the Club Secretary to Members upon request.

  2. No alteration or addition shall be made to this document except at an AGM or EGM of the Club.

  3. Members guests (non-members) shall be required to pay in full for attending Club events, charges to be decided by the Committee.

  4. Children attending Club meetings, events and any gatherings of Club Members who are under the age of 16 shall do so under the supervision of their parent or an appropriate guardian.
